NCS SAFETY AND SECURITY
At Northwest Christian Schools of Lacey (NCS), the safety and security of our students is a top priority. Together with our community partners, we make sure that emergency response planning at NCS is ongoing and adaptive. All of these efforts combine to ensure that our campus security program stays focused, intentional, highly effective, and responsive.
Listed below are some of the safety & security initiatives currently in place at NCS:
- Building security: interior security cameras; locked exterior doors; controlled/monitored entry; key card access (limited); “quick lock” interior door latches; added cameras 2023-24
- Campus security: perimeter fencing; exterior security cameras; single entrance and exit gates; additional cameras added 2023-24
- Security film added at glass entrance areas; 2023
- Campus wide security system updated; 2022
- Radios and announcement system for emergency communication – new phone system 2024
- Knox boxes added at each school; 2023
- Radios and announcement system for emergency communication updated; 2023
- Daily perimeter checks; notifications as needed sent to Lacey PD
- Staff and faculty trainings: emergency preparedness and response; active threat response
- Comprehensive Safety Plan developed for employees; 2022
- Ongoing Incident Command Structure (ICS) development and training
- Washington State teacher mandated reporter training & awareness
- Staff and faculty certification in CPR, First Aid, and Stop-the-Bleed training
- Regular ongoing communication and collaboration with Lacey Police Department and other emergency management officials
- Regular safety drills including fire, earthquake, evacuation, lock-in/out
- Regular campus security reviews to identify vulnerabilities that need addressed
- FIre and building safety assessments and compliance with requirements
- Annual inventory and updates to first aid supplies
- Updated maps to reflect more details (AED, first aid, gas/electrical shutoff, first aid supplies, etc.); maps provided to Lacey PD
