NCS SAFETY AND SECURITY

The security of a school campus is a major consideration when families are choosing the right school for their children. At Northwest Christian Schools of Lacey (NCS), the safety and security of our students is a top priority.

Together with our community partners, we make sure that emergency response planning at NCS is ongoing and adaptive.  All of these efforts combine to ensure that our campus security program stays focused, intentional, highly effective, and responsive. 

Listed below are some of the safety & security initiatives currently in place at NCS: 

  • Building security:  interior security cameras; locked exterior doors; controlled/monitored entry; key card access (limited); “quick lock” interior door latches; additional cameras being added 2023-24
  • Campus security: perimeter fencing; exterior security cameras; single entrance and exit gates; additional cameras being added 2023-24
  • Security film added at all glass entrance areas 2023
  • Knox boxes added at each school in 2023
  • Campus wide security system, updated summer 2022
  • Radios and announcement system for emergency communication; updated 2023
  • Staff and faculty annual trainings: emergency preparedness and response; active threat response; threat awareness
  • Washington State teacher mandated reporter training & awareness
  • Staff and faculty certification in CPR, AED,  and Stop-the-Bleed training
  • Regular and ongoing communication and collaboration with Lacey Police Department and other emergency management officials
  • Regular safety drills including fire, earthquake, evacuation, lock-in/out
  • Annual campus security reviews to identify vulnerabilities that need addressed
  • Fire and building safety and compliance
