Northwest Christian High School

The Washington State Office of Public Instruction has issued this directive to all Washington schools:
“To graduate from high school, all students must develop a High School and Beyond Plan on how they will meet the high school graduation requirements and what they will do following high school. A student’s plan… is revised as he/she moves forward, should include the classes needed to prepare for a postsecondary pathway, such as a two-year or four-year college, technical college, apprenticeship program, certificate program, the workforce or military training.” (ESHB 2224)

At NCHS, we have developed a plan that is unique to each grade level but will finalize with each student possessing a portfolio of helpful tools, best works, and awards and certificates. We encourage the students to think of this as their brag book and use it as a resource when applying to colleges and universities.

A few of the activities involved include a learning style survey, a career interest inventory, a job application, and a job shadow. This experience will help prepare our NCHS students for life beyond high school.

Each student is part of a cohort that meets quarterly with one of our teachers who serves as the cohort advisor. Assignments for the quarter are verified by the advisor so that each student stays on track. The student must complete each of the assignments for the year. As previously mentioned, the NCHS & Beyond plan is a requirement for graduation.
