Where will I live?
Students can live with family members or family friends in the area, or they can also be placed with American host families. International students benefit greatly from the relationships formed with their host families.
What is the weather like in Washington?
Not too hot in the summer; not too cold in the winter. A healthy amount of yearly rain keeps Washington green and beautiful!
How can I maintain my F-1 (student) visa status?
Once accepted to NCA or NCHS, you will be provided with an I-20 form. We will help you through the immigration process as needed. We are a SEVP approved school authorized to enroll international F-1 students.
If I need help while I’m away from my family, what do I do?
We have an International Student Program director who will help you schedule classes and will be your liaison between school and your host family. Your host family will be your home away from home. And, of course, you may keep in touch with your family via e-mail, etc.
Do I need specific English test scores for admittance?
Students are not required to have a specific English test score to be admitted. However, before they can begin classes students may be asked to take an English placement test at the school. This will help determine placement. Our schools offer an immersion learning approach with students placed in English instructed classrooms. Support is provided to help students acclimate to the classroom. Our high school students participate in an online student interview, conducted in English, prior to acceptance.
How can I meet and socialize with other students to make new friends?Â
Every year, our schools hosts a back-to-school picnic. This will be your first of many opportunities to get to know your schoolmates. Making American friends will help your English and is also great fun!
What about medical insurance?
We require that you have medical insurance during your course of study. Information will be included in your application packet.
Do I need a recruiting agency?
No! You may apply to our schools directly. No sending agent is required.
