Substitute Teacher - NCP, NCA, NCHS
At Northwest Christian Schools (NCS), we are seeking qualified substitutes to continue classroom instruction and growth in the absence of teachers. Substitutes may be called upon for both planned and unplanned substitute opportunities throughout the year. If you meet the qualifications below and are interested in being a part of our substitute roster, we’d love to talk to you!
Qualifications
Substitute teachers are expected to:
- Conduct their life in a manner which demonstrates spiritual maturity, reflects the purpose and values of the school, and is consistent with the school doctrinal statement (Statement of Faith);
- Be a member in good standing of a local church, one having a doctrinal statement compatible with the school’s doctrinal statement;
- Demonstrate godly leadership in the classroom;
- Have experience working with youth (experience in a classroom setting preferred);
- Have a minimum of an AA (BA or MA preferred);
The NCS campus consists of three schools – Northwest Christian Preschool (Preschool and Pre-K, ages 3-5), Northwest Christian Academy (Kinder-8th grade), and Northwest Christian High School (9th-12th grade). NCP - Preschool Teacher 2026-27 School Year
Northwest Christian Preschool (NCP) is now accepting applications for a Preschool Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. NCS is the only Christian school in Thurston County offering education from preschool through 12th grade – all on one campus. Our three schools are:

Minimum
• Experience working with preschool age children
• Christian faith in Jesus Christ
• Be committed to furthering the schools Christian mission and philosophy of faith-based education
• Agree to uphold Northwest Christian’s statement of faith
• Be willing to submit to and honor the standards outlined in the Employee Handbook
Preferred
• 2-3 years of successful teaching experience
• Associates (AA) degree or higher
• Teaching experience in a Christian preschool

• Employs a variety of instructional aids, methods, materials, and technology that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child: spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional;
• Assesses the learning of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required;
• Maintains classroom management in the classroom and on the school premises for a good teaching environment;
• Informs the administration if unable to fulfill any duty assigned. Prepares adequate information and materials for the substitute teacher.
Non-Instructional:
• Cooperates with the board and administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school;
• Maintains regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for comprehensive knowledge of each student’s progress;
• Keeps student, parents, and administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies, and gives sufficient notice of impending failure;
• Maintains a clean, attractive, and well-ordered classroom;
• Supervises extra-curricular activities and outings as assigned;
• Supports the broader program of the school by attending extra-curricular activities as outlined in the staff handbook.
Professional:
• Utilizes educational opportunities and evaluation processes for professional growth;
• Seeks the counsel of the director and colleagues, and communicates appropriately with parents, while maintaining a teachable attitude;
• Provides input and recommendations for administrative and managerial functions in the school;
• Attends and participates in scheduled devotional, in-service, faculty, school events;
• Knows the procedures for dealing with emergencies;
• Contributes to the general improvement of the school program;
• Performs any other duties which may be assigned by the administration.

• Demonstrates the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and punctuality;
• Meets everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism;

Athletics Program Leadership:
• Ensure the overall success and smooth operation of the athletics program, including recruiting coaches, scheduling referees, and coordinating program logistics in a timely manner.
• Enforce all athletics-related policies and procedures outlined in the school’s handbook and written policies.
• Participate in appropriate campus-wide athletics meetings and league meetings.
• Schedule all athletic contests and athletics-related events in accordance with campus and league deadlines; such as parent meetings, student meetings, seasonal banquets, alumni events, and annual coaches’ meetings.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with NCA coaches, opposing schools, school personnel, parents, and students regarding schedules, expectations, and program updates.
• Arrange transportation for away contests using the school’s transportation request process.
• Ensure the NCA athletics program is well advertised through the school’s communication and marketing channels.
• Supervise home contests and major athletic events throughout the year to ensure proper operations, sportsmanship, and safety.
• Recruit, evaluate, and support coaches, encouraging their strengths and helping them grow while maintaining a Christ-like standard in their interactions with students, parents, colleagues, and competitors.
• Assist administration in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of athletic coaches.

● Develop and implement a monthly lunch menu that reflects students’ interests while meeting the established school’s nutritional standards.

● Manage and track lunch preorders.
● Prepare and serve meals twice weekly, ensuring compliance with all food safety policies and procedures.
● Conduct weekly grocery shopping for food inventory and kitchen supplies.
Support of Concessions
● Purchase inventory for the Athletics Department when grocery shopping.
● Collaborate with the Athletic Director to support athletic concessions by training and supporting volunteers (as needed).
Compliance and Safety
● Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization in accordance with federal and state health regulations.
● Address and resolve any corrections (if any) that are identified in health department inspection reports.
Inventory and Financial Management

Northwest Christian Schools of Lacey is looking for bus drivers to drive our athletic teams, field trips, and summer camp to various locations within the western Washington footprint. This would be a part-time, as-needed position.
Qualifications include your CDL Class B license with a school bus endorsement. We are looking for a Christian individual who would like to have a ministry driving for Northwest Christian Schools.
